Augmodo

Augmodo is a spatial AI company building wearable hardware and AI software for retail environments. Its SmartBadge is a passive wearable device equipped with dual cameras that captures egocentric video from a store associate's perspective. Computer vision models process the footage to monitor shelf stock, identify missing items and generate live 3D store maps - termed Realograms - which update dozens of times daily. The approach replaces fixed cameras and roaming shelf-scanning robots with a device carried by existing staff.

The company's software layer targets inventory tracking and shelf monitoring in grocery, pharmacy and big-box retail. By Augmodo's account, early customers have seen a 30% improvement in on-shelf availability within the first month of deployment. Reported operating characteristics include installation in under 30 minutes per store, roughly 100 times lower cost than competing solutions and about ten times more shelf data captured. The system is also used to simplify ecommerce order fulfilment and to give associates AI assistance the company equates to two years of experience from day one.

Technical constraints shape the design. Privacy filtering runs on-premise, so that only shelf data is processed - the system does not track associates or customers. The wearables are passive by intent, and the company states a philosophy of augmenting rather than replacing retail workers. Deployment examples include QFC in the United States and Chemist Warehouse in Australia.
