Capital One is a financial services company and bank holding company founded in 1994 and headquartered in McLean, Virginia. It operates across Credit Cards, Auto Loans, Savings and Commercial Banking, serving over 65 million customer accounts. The firm describes itself as a technology company that happens to be in banking, and applies artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics to the mass customisation and personalisation of financial products - an approach it pioneered in consumer credit cards and auto lending.

Technology leadership sits at the centre of the business model. Capital One was among the first lenders to build personalised, data-driven offerings at scale, and it continues to push technical boundaries within financial services.
