Spire Global

Spire Global, founded in 2012, is a space-to-cloud data and analytics company. It operates LEMUR (Low Earth Multi-Use Receiver), a proprietary constellation of nanosatellites in low Earth orbit that collects Earth observation data continuously, tracking oceans, skies, land and weather 24/7. Raw observations are processed through software analytics into insights and predictive products, delivered to customers via subscription models and APIs.

The company's technical work spans nanosatellite engineering, space-based remote sensing, RF/GPS signal reception, and cloud data delivery. Alongside its data products, Spire offers a Space-as-a-Service model, under which customers deploy and operate their own payloads on orbit using Spire's existing infrastructure. The approach relies on affordable nanosatellites rather than the large, costly platforms traditionally used for Earth observation.

Spire serves more than 745 customers across 65 countries, with applications in weather forecasting, aviation, maritime and government. The company states a mission of building a better planet through space-based data; it was founded by entrepreneurs from three countries and has pursued new commercial models such as space-as-a-service alongside its core data business.
