Waymo is an American autonomous driving technology company founded in 2009 and headquartered in Mountain View, California. It develops autonomous vehicle technology and operates a fully autonomous ride-hailing service. Its engineering work spans Lidar, cameras, radar, computer vision, AI and machine learning, and simulation - the stack behind the Waymo Driver, a system designed to navigate complex driving environments without human intervention. The Waymo Driver has logged over 100 million miles on public roads and billions more in simulation.

The company also runs what it describes as the world's first fully autonomous ride-hailing service, offering rides 24/7 across multiple U.S. cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, Atlanta and Miami. The service has delivered over 20 million rides at a reported 93% customer satisfaction rate. Waymo's technology has a driving presence in more than 15 U.S. states, with operations in London and Tokyo planned.

Safety is the central engineering and organisational focus. Waymo reports that its vehicles are involved in 92% fewer serious and fatal injury crashes than human drivers, and the company operates an all-electric fleet.
