Xapien

Xapien is a London-based deep tech company, founded in 2018, that applies artificial intelligence and natural language processing to automate due diligence and background research. Its platform emulates human-led research and report-writing, processing large volumes of commercial and open-source data to produce risk assessments on individuals and companies in minutes rather than days. The product, the Xapien Platform, scans 0.5 billion corporate records and 1,500 watchlists spanning 140 jurisdictions. It came to market in 2022.

The underlying work spans several technical domains: natural language processing, open-source intelligence, automated report generation and risk intelligence. The engineering challenge is one of scale and synthesis - ingesting heterogeneous data at volume across many jurisdictions and producing coherent, sourced analysis rather than raw search results.

The company sells to global law firms, private banks, financial services firms, universities, nonprofits, risk consultancies and enterprise procurement teams, with customers in 15 countries. Xapien raised a $10m Series A in 2024, following a £6m seed round in 2023.
