Sierra builds a conversational AI platform for creating AI agents that answer questions, take action and reason across chat, SMS, WhatsApp, email and voice.

Sierra is a conversational AI company founded in 2023 by Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and CTO of Facebook, and Clay Bavor, who spent 18 years at Google leading Google Labs, Google Lens, and AR/VR efforts. Its platform enables companies to build AI agents that answer questions, take action, reason through complex problems, and deliver personalised service across chat, SMS, WhatsApp, email, voice and other channels. The stated mission is to make AI more human, with an emphasis on agents that are sophisticated, authentic and trustworthy.

The technical work spans conversational AI, AI agents, natural-language understanding, reasoning and problem-solving, and multi-channel communication AI. Brand partners include WeightWatchers, SiriusXM, Sonos and OluKai, and the platform is applied in customer experience and customer service, consumer brands, retail, media and entertainment, audio and electronics, and health and wellness.

Sierra has grown from its San Francisco base to six offices: San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, London, Singapore and France.
